Haggerston Castle, July 2010 - travelandmixpix
The ice house that served as a fridge at Haggerston Castle. It was built by Henry Haggerston to keep meat fresh. Estate staff would get ice from the lake during the winter months and pile it in at the bottom of the ice house which is quite deep inside. In effect, it was a fridge!
